Many small businesses use email as well as text messaging to communicate. If you want to send the information in an email to a colleague's cell phone, one way to do it is to manually retype the message on your cell phone's tiny keyboard. A more convenient method is to forward the email straight from your computer to the recipient's cell phone as a text message. Most mobile carriers make this process as easy as forwarding any other email.

Log in to your email program. Open the email message that you wish to forward to a cell phone.

Click the "Forward" option in your email client, which will copy the contents of the email into a new message; most email clients support this option. The "Forward" icon often looks like a right-pointing arrow and it's typically located under the "File" or "Menu" option on the application toolbar. Refer to your software help file if you are unsure of the procedure for forwarding email.

Edit your email as desired and shorten it as much as possible. A relatively short email can make for a long text message, and most mobile carriers limit text messages to under 200 characters. Longer messages may be split into multiple texts or simply truncated, depending on the carrier. Delete non-essential text from the message to avoid this problem.

Browse to the website of your recipient's mobile carrier to determine the domain name that you should use when sending a text message. This information usually appears in the Support or Help section of the website.

Address your text message. The first part of the email address is the recipient's cell phone number, and following the "@" symbol, you type the carrier's domain name. For example, texts to AT&T customers should be sent to "txt.att.net" – so if your intended recipient has service with AT&T and his cell phone number is 1-222-222-2222, you would address the message to "12222222222@txt.att.net".

Click the "Submit" button in your email client to send the message. Allow sufficient time for the text to be delivered and then confirm that the recipient received your message.
