GEORGETOWN — A Chick-fil-A truck could be coming soon to Georgetown after City Council approved of a food truck ordinance June 20.
Georgetown Director of Main Street Al Joseph presented to the council a draft of the ordinance that would bring the Chick-fil-A truck to be on the current site of the Growers Market between Prince and Front St.
"It will be there for lunch, six days a week," Joseph said to the council.

Chick-fil-A traditionally operates every day of the week except for Sunday.
According to the draft lease, the truck would be given six months to operate. Joseph added that, if approved, the lease could be renegotiated as needed.
Mayor Carol Jayroe said an exact date for the truck to start operations has not been set because the restaurant was waiting on the city to approve its ordinance before making firm plans.
“It will be sooner rather than later. We do have to go through a second reading of the ordinance,” Jayroe said. “It’ll be right after the July board meeting."

Joseph said how his longterm plan is to bring a brick-and-mortar Chick-fil-A to town, should the food truck see success.
However, he added, "corporate makes the final decision" where brick-and-mortar stores open.
"We all know it's going to be successful," Joseph said. "(The city) would like a brick-and-mortar store in Georgetown, so this is step one of hopefully making that happen down the road."
Jayroe was similarly optimistic for what was to come.
“We are so excited,” Jayroe said. “[The truck] did a trial run here a year ago, and they just want to come and try it again to see if corporate will make it feasible for them to have a brick-and-mortar store in our city. We certainly hope that this will happen. Who doesn’t love Chick-fil-A?”
